Pilot Training Programme

Emirates Aviation College, has now launched an JAA Licensed Pilot Training Programme in collaboration with Jeppesen.

Duration: 17 months
Entry requirements:
  • 17 - 30 years old
  • Hold a High School certificate or equivalent
  • Class I Medical certificate
  • Must pass the following:
    In Dubai - pre-selection process which includes psychotechnical tests, oral & written English exam and personal interview.
    In Lisbon - selection process.

Programme fee: AED 545,000
Programme fee will be inclusive of:
  • Theory & practical modules and sessions
  • Books, materials and handouts
  • Three return tickets between Dubai and Lisbon
  • Visas
  • Full board accommodations in Lisbon

The ground school (theory) will take place in Dubai for a duration of seven months. The practical part will take place in Lisbon for 10 months. The successful completion of the course will lead to:

  • Frozen ATPL license (theory)
  • CPL license with IR, SE and ME ratings

Successful graduates of the programme will have the opportunity to enrol into the College's one year top-up degree programme and obtain a BSc (Honours) in Aviation.

Aviation Medicine Course (EPCAM)

Emirates Aviation College, in collaboration with Emirates Medical Services, is pleased to announce the commencement of the second Emirates Postgraduate Certificate in Aviation Medicine Course (EPCAM).

Duration: 9 days
Starting - ending date: 30 April - 9 May, 2012
Venue: Emirates Aviation College in Dubai
Fee: AED 16,000

This 9-day course is suitable for doctors wishing to become aviation medical examiners (AME) and upon passing the course, they will be eligible to apply for AME status with the GCAA (UAE regulatory authority).

The course is also accepted by CASA (Australia) as a prerequisite for the one day regulatory course (part of Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine). The EPCAM training has a practical emphasis, and is based on the competency-based framework for Designated Medical Examiner (DME) training recently adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The principal trainer is Dr David Powell, supported by several locally based clinical specialists and Emirates aviation medical staff. The course also includes a number of relevant workplace visits including an altitude chamber, flight simulators, and cabin crew emergency training facilities, as well as discussion of passenger medical issues. Dr Powell is a specialist and university lecturer in aviation medicine, an experienced aviation medical examiner and was Chief Medical Officer at Air New Zealand 1997-2009.

Flight Dispatcher (Theory)

Duration: 7 Weeks
Course Fee: US$ 7,265
Examination fee: US$ 350

Course Description
The Flight Dispatcher Course (Theory) teaches students the workflow processes and protocols of an International Airline Operations Centre. Students will learn the specific duties and responsibilities of the Flight Operations Officer (Dispatcher) and become candidates for a GCAA-UAE Dispatcher License upon the completion of the OJT requirement*. The content of the course includes theoretical and applied practical knowledge required to successfully pass the GCAA-UAE written and practical examinations. Course content is also approved and compliant with the FAA, JAA and ICAO.

*The College is not responsible for securing OJT placement.

Who should attend

  • AOC staff wishing to advance to Flight Operations Officer / Flight Dispatcher.
  • New hires in an AOC environment.
  • Individuals who desire advanced training in the Operations environment and obtain a GCAA-UAE Dispatch License.

Recurrent Dispatch Training

Duration: 3days
Cost: US $ 1,175

Applicability
This document sets forth the standards and requirements of an approved Recurrent Dispatcher training program for Aircraft Dispatchers as required per GCAA CAAP 17.

The course is intended for holders of a valid GCAA license or holders of an ICAO recognized license, who intend to work in the UAE and have to convert their license.

Training Objective
At the conclusion of the training curriculum, the individual involved will be able to successfully demonstrate his knowledge of the regulations, polices, and procedures related to dispatch recurrent training. Upon successful completion of an exam the individual will be issued a Certificate of Qualification, which serves as proof that the student has received the required annual recurrent training.

Who should attend
The course is intended for holders of a valid GCAA license or holders of an ICAO recognized license, who intend to work in the UAE and have to convert their license.

International Flight Planning

Duration: 2 days
Cost: US$ 775

Applicability
This document sets forth the standards and requirements of an approved International Flight Planning training program for Aircraft Dispatchers. Duration of the course is 2 classroom days, but may be expanded to 2 days; if there is availability and a requirement for practical flight planning scenarios (this would require a CBT room, with Internet connections).

Training Objective
At the conclusion of the training curriculum, the individual involved will be able to successfully demonstrate his knowledge of the regulations, polices, and procedures related to International Flight Planning. Upon successful completion of an exam the individual will be issued a Certificate of Qualification.

Who should Attend.
Flight dispatcher License holders or those with experience in the same field.

ETOPS

Duration: 3 days
Cost: US$ 1,175

Applicability
This document sets forth the standards and requirements of an ETOPS workshop for Aircraft Dispatchers. Duration of the course is 3 classroom days. The course is intended for experienced flight operations staffs, who want to dispatch aircraft on extended flights.

Training Objective
At the conclusion of the training curriculum, the individual involved will be able to successfully demonstrate his knowledge of the regulations, polices, and procedures related to ETOPS, Driftdown and Reclear. Upon successful completion of an exam the individual will be issued a Certificate of Qualification.

Who should Attend
Flight dispatcher License holders or those with experience in the same field.
