The Centre of Excellence and Research at Emirates Aviation College recognises the importance of providing a sound vocational education structure based on the needs of industry in the UAE, the region and beyond. Students taking this route following completion of high school or secondary education can follow a unique path of “learning by doing”, acquiring both knowledge and skills hand in hand that allow them to form a greater understanding of the needs and practices of the work place environment. This might be in preparation for a career as an aircraft engineer, an IT specialist, a hotel manager, or a business entrepreneur to name a few. In this regard the Centre provides a range of international flexible diplomas and awards in vocationally relevant disciplines such as:

• Tourism Management
• Aerospace Engineering
• Electronics and Computer Engineering
• Business Management
• Business and Air Transport Management

The Centre also provides an opportunity for many students whose first language is not English, to equip themselves with the necessary English language tools. This could help them to progress to further education or to be able to function more effectively in the workplace or daily lives.

In addition to the above, the Centre of Excellence and Research has established a unique Centre for Industrial Research, focusing on the needs of organisations who may benefit from applied academic research techniques and principles. The Centre for Industrial Research is the first of its kind in the region and has already begun work in areas of research that will assist organisations to make more effective decisions financially, for the welfare of their employees, for the utilization of resources, for maximisation of efficiency and for the well-being and betterment of society and the community.

The Centre of Excellence and Research therefore has the needs of industry at its heart. One arm (Centre of Excellence) provides a flow of vocationally skilled employees for a broad industry range; the other (Centre for Industrial Research) applies sound academic techniques to allow organisations to function more efficiently and effectively, and for the good of its nations citizens.
