Aviation Management Program

Program Goals:

To equip students with the knowledge and professionalism required by the Air Transport industry in the 21st century. Individuals will be supported and encouraged to realize their full potential to face the management challenges of this dynamic industry.

A major in Aviation Management involves the basic elements of Air Transport; in the airline industry and the environment in which it takes place. The curriculum focuses on the issues such as types of Aviation Management, enterprises in airlines and their relationships. In addition, the Aviation Management industry is being analyzed from marketing, planning and policy perspectives at national and international levels. Therefore, the program will provide students a strong background in the Aviation Management field as well as business and leadership practices which are required from today’s graduates.

The program objectives and learning outcomes for the Aviation Management program are presented in the table on the following page.

Objective 1

Offer high quality education for students to acquire theory as well as practice in the field of Business and Aviation Management at international standards.

1.1 Ability to understand core concepts and characteristics and principles in Business and Aviation Management

1.2 Ability to understand contemporary issues and apply the knowledge in business and Air Transport practices

1.3 Demonstrate multi-disciplinary problem solving and decision making skills in Air Transport settings

Objective 2

Build confidence in students by providing a creative and student-centered teaching and learning environment and prepare them with necessary personal and professional skills in the field of Aviation Management to become a lifelong learner.

2.1 Demonstrate an understanding of the structure of and interactions in the air transport industry

2.2 Ability to perform interpersonal skills and be able to work independently and collaboratively as a lifelong learning professional in the region and beyond

2.3 Ability to perform successful transition to employment in the air transport industry or to continue for further education

Objective 3

Build productive academic and professional partnerships with public and private institutions in the field of Aviation Management at national, regional and international level to prepare students for the needs and challenges of the air transport industry in the UAE, Middle East and beyond.

3.1 Ability to understand the regional and worldwide industry trends and be prepared for the challenges in the air transport industry

3.2 Ability to demonstrate cooperation and negotiation skills with third parties in Aviation Management

3.3 Demonstrate and recognize the importance of ethics in all business practices
